Public Cloud Gains Momentum. What’s Next?
As the popularity of public clouds gains momentum, the battle is heating up among cloud IaaS (infrastructure as Service) providers. As a multi-billion-dollar IaaS cloud provider, Amazon Web Services (AWS) is leading the battle. But Google, Microsoft, Rackspace, IBM, and Hewlett-Packard are very active too. Last week Google announced that Google Compute Engine is now available to everyone. Google revealed unique features like advanced routing to help create gateways and VPN servers.
Clearly Google is serious about the networking aspect of public clouds. And we expect all cloud providers will be in the near future. Indeed, now everybody leveraging IaaS is aware that making the most out of your public cloud resources can present some hurdles, specifically because of various latency and network congestion issues. At the AWS partner summit a few weeks ago in San Francisco, Matt Wood, Principal Data Scientist at AWS, presented a very clear statement of the performance problem, spanning architecture design to operational aspects: Latency the Worst NightMare.
Which is why Application Defined Networking and CloudWeaver are gaining momentum too. As the leader in Application Defined Networking for cloud performance automation we are dedicated to making application infrastructure intuitive to operate and easy to troubleshoot.
Our first service for public cloud users (which is free of charge), CloudWeaver Discovery, gives you holistic and comprehensive visibility into your collective resources and the associated network topology. As one user said, “It is cool to check CloudWeaver Discovery on a regular basis to have an overview of my infra.” Another explained, “I like the clear and concise interface. It is nice that CloudWeaver Discovery shows resources across all geographic regions, as opposed to the other tools, which show only one region at a time.”
While we offer the leading Cloud mapping solution for AWS users, even if you’re using Google or another public cloud you can still access our demo. Give it a try and let us know what you think. We will extend it rapidly to the other public clouds and of course integrate the next features, which provide all the benefits of Application-Defined Networking.
