I always wanted to take pictures of the clouds!
As a child I was fascinated by clouds (and stars). I remember looking out the back of my parents’ car and following clouds dancing in the sky. The clouds were telling me stories like a picture book and developing my imagination.
Now, as the CEO of a startup, I am still inspired by clouds. As you know, one founds a startup to change the world for the better. Cloud-computing is changing our IT world. We are all inventing clouds and creating the future. The mission of our company is to ensure that no barrier will ever slow you down. This is why Lyatiss is automating cloud-computing performance.
A few weeks ago, I realized that it would be cool to have a tool for taking pictures of the diverse cloud shapes that we are creating to tell the story of our new IT revolution.
This is why I asked my engineering team to build a “camera” to enable people to take snapshots of their clouds. This camera is available at an amazingly low cost—it’s free. My team developed it using the power our CloudWeaver platform, and today we are very excited to introduce CloudWeaver Discovery. It is available for any AWS region.
To use CloudWeaver Discovery you simply sign up and provide your AWS credential. One tip: Prepare a read-only AIM (http://aws.amazon.com/iam/faqs/) you can revoke at anytime.
Today, any small, medium or large company can build an IT infrastructure remotely. This is especially useful if you are an SaaS business. You don’t need to buy a room full of computers just in case your demand goes through the roof for trouble-ticket services. You can leverage the cloud and rent your infrastructure, as a service, from AWS for example. You rent all the hardware and networking you need from AWS.
If you are discovering the cloud and want to see how it works for you, you will start with a first sketch of your infrastructure before you get the big picture in place. In the cloud, nobody starts with heavy development upfront to build a new system. We create a minimal environment first, deploy the software component, and then check to see if all the pieces work together. Many templates are available that make this very easy. As a result, your « hello world » system can be operational very rapidly.
With CloudWeaver Discovery you can now take a snapshot of your first configuration. Take and share a picture of your newborn « Cloud ». You can report the inventory of the resources you have rented, and from there determine and follow the evolution of the shape of your cloud system.
If you are a seasoned AWS user, you will also enjoy the graphical view of your cloud, the SSH access to your machine, and rapid inventory of your complex system. Of course, we will add many capabilities to this free tool. Not doubt you also have great ideas, and we would enjoy integrating them into the tool. Let us know ([email protected])!
I wish you a pleasant exploration of your AWS cloud.
